About The Quilt Connection
Hi, I'm Melody, the owner of The Quilt Connection. I have been sewing for 40+ years, quilting for 20 years and long-arm machine quilting for over 14. I have personally made over 300 quilts and professionally machine quilted over 2100 quilts for others. Please keep checking back for updated photos of my work. I am also an active member in the local quilt guild - Coastal Bend Quilt & Needlework Guild (CBQNG) and several other smaller bees and groups.
I am an award winning quilter, having won 25 ribbons for my own personal quilts, including three BEST OF SHOW for Long Arm Machine Quilting. My customers have also won many awards at local shows on quilts that I have custom quilted for them...over 100 in the last 3 shows! I'm very proud of these achievements and take great pride in knowing that my customers are winning ribbons based in part because of the quality work I've done on their quilts.
My studio is located in my home in Corpus Christi, which is smoke free. I do own cats but they are not allowed in my studio while I'm working. Because I machine quilt all week long I make appointments on Saturdays to meet with my customers for pick-up and delivery of their quilts. This allows me to keep on schedule and get everyone's quilts back to them on time as promised. Just e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org to make an appointment.
In January of 2013 my computerized Statler Stitcher was delivered and my entire world changed...for the better! I actually cried when I realized how my life had dramatically improved, it was cathartic. I named her Bella and she is my "Assistant"; I am able to be so much more creative; she allows me to tap into the artistic side of my brain and I can do miracles on your quilts. Because I have over 10 years of experience doing freehand custom quilting I know what works and what doesn't and therefore I can turn your pretty quilt top into a masterpiece, worthy of any quilt show. I do a lot of what's called "Blended Quilting", the computer will do some stitching under my direction and then I disengage Bella and I can do freehand background fillers etc. I take great pride in producing a show quality quilt even if your grandbaby or college student is going to spill food and liquids on it.
I have always had a love of sewing, my mom taught me to make my own clothes and do crafts. When we sew we all have leftover fabric scraps, what to do with them? As in days gone by quilting seemed like the next logical step and now I'm hooked forever. I take great pride in delivering a high quality product, something that can be passed on for many generations. I look forward to the opportunity to meet and/or talk with you about your individual quilting needs and hopefully build a relationship that will last a lifetime.
